Willie Watson Albany Concert reviews
ZZtop did not dissappoint, but VIP did
As expected, the tunes played by Billy, Dusty, and Frank in the beautiful Orpheum theater did not disappoint. The sound that I fell in love with when I was a kid listening to my Dad's vinyl took me back even deeper than the countless tapes, CD's, and records that I purchased through the years. I always wanted to see them but somehow never got the chance, so I sure was going to make the best of this opportunity with a VIP meet and greet package. After all, how do you put a price on meeting these guys that you have loved for so long??!! Well, nothing against Willie Watson at all, but the "VIP Concierge" that we had was not so VIP. I do not expect the guys to hang with us or invite us to jam or go to their tour buses, but we were moved through like cattle. We were rudely told to leave our phones in our pockets before they even were close to entering the back stage area. Then the main VIP host was barking off orders to the other staff, and wow, I thought that I was in trouble for something and she was not even talking to me. Guys came in, talked for about 5 minutes, took a picture, and then were shown the door!! I appreciate the few moments that I got to spend with Willie Watson, but the VIP experience was definitely NOT worth the money. I am still bummed!! Waited all this time to be treated that way..... Not cool.
